I am a freelance writer. But I am also a history major. As an undergrad I was disappointed to learn that medieval history was nowhere near, in reality, as romantic as it is made out to be in Arthurian legend and lore.
But the word “freelance” comes from the medieval practice of horseback soldiers who fought with a spear, and sold their services to whichever army involved in battle would pay them.
Words are influential, and I enjoy making it my life’s work unleashing their power on behalf of my clients. So it is amusing to think of myself as a soldier of fortune going into battle for my clients, to win them the customers they desire.
The only problem is the term implies one who will flip-flop from one side to the other dependent on which will pay him more. That’s an unfortunate connotation, I think.
To think of how my words can help a client carve out a bigger piece of the map in the territorial war they are forever waging with their competition…It’s kind of why I do it. When you have Dailey Freelance on your side, I am all in with you until your business is firmly number one, or at least until we get you the name recognition you’re looking for.
If you’ve got a long-term project for me, send me a message and tell me what you have in mind at firstname.lastname@example.org.
